Stay safe from job scams
Never pay to get a job. A real employer does not charge you to apply, interview or be hired.
Warning signs
- They ask for money: “registration”, “visa”, “medical”, “training”, “ticket” or “security deposit” fees.
- They ask for your passport original, bank card, PIN or one-time codes.
- The salary is far above normal for a job that needs no experience.
- They only talk to you on WhatsApp or Telegram, will not do a video call, and have no company website or email on a company domain.
- They push you to decide fast or to keep the offer secret.
- They promise a visa or a job guaranteed for a payment.
- The offer comes before any interview, or the “company” name is almost the same as a famous one.
What real employers do
- Interview you, then give a written offer or contract that you can read before you accept.
- Pay the cost of the employment visa and recruitment themselves. In the UAE, charging recruitment fees to workers is not allowed.
- Have a trade licence and a real address you can check.
Before you accept
- Look for the Verified badge, then search the company name yourself and check it exists.
- Read the contract: job title, salary, hours, place, who pays for the visa and flight.
- Check the visa rules on the government’s official site (see our country guides). Keep your passport with you.
- Tell a family member or friend where you are going and who the employer is.
